Gemini Referral Rewards Program Terms

What do I need to know about Gemini's Referral Club program?
1. What is the Gemini Referral Club Program?
- Eligible Gemini users can refer their network directly from the Rewards Hub or with their referral link, and both can earn rewards in the crypto based on how much the referral trades in their first 30 days as a registered Gemini user.
- Once your referral signs up and places at least $100 worth of trades within 30 days of signing up, they are in the Referral Club and you can both earn referral rewards based on the following referral tiers:
For users that were referred before 10/18/2023 @ 2:25pm EST, the following referral tiers shall apply:

2. How do I refer someone?
- Share your referral link on social media, text, email, or wherever you want to share!
- Sync your contacts on mobile and send direct invites via text!
- Send email invites on web!
3. How do I get my referral link?
- Your referral link can be found in the Referral modal on the mobile and web homepages. You can also find it easily in the Rewards hub.
4. What are the incentives when someone uses my link?
- The Icon and Legend tiers are a dual-incentive program. This means that both the referee and referrer earn an equal amount of trading fee revenue based on the referee’s trading, because we value both the referrer and referee as equal participants!
5. Am I eligible for the Gemini Referral Club Program?
- To see if you're eligible for the Gemini Referral Club Program, simply check if you can view and interact with the Rewards section in your account. If you're able to participate in the rewards program, then you are eligible!
- Gemini Referrals is available in limited jurisdictions in Gemini’s sole discretion.
- Gemini may, from time to time, immediately, and at its sole discretion, modify this list of eligible jurisdictions or make this reward available to users in other territories, subject to applicable law.
- Not eligible? We’re expanding to new jurisdictions all the time, so keep an eye out!
6. When is the cut-off date for my referral to reach trading qualification for any of the referral tiers?
- 30 days after they sign-up for a Gemini account
7. What types of trades count towards the trading thresholds?
- All revenue-generating trades count towards the trading thresholds: instant buy/sell/convert, OTC trades, Active Trader trades, derivatives trades (in relevant jurisdictions).
- Excluded: crypto and fiat deposit and withdrawals
8. If my referral reaches an Icon or Legend tier, do we both also earn the $15 crypto reward?
- Yes, all referrals that exceed $100 in eligible trades will earn the $15 crypto reward on top of any Icon or Legend reward tiers achieved.
9. How do I know if my referral is tracking towards a specific reward?
- In the Rewards Hub, both you and your referee will see which tier they are currently eligible for based on their trading activity, and once your referral finishes the volume requirement to reach each reward level within the 30 day time period after they sign up.
- Once the 30-day trading qualification window closes, whichever tier they have qualified for will determine their rewards tier and impact both of your rewards.
10. How long does it take to receive my reward payouts?
- Recruit referral: Payouts will be made 30 days after referee signs up to ensure that the referral isn’t attempting to achieve an Icon or Legend tier status.
- Icon and Legend tier referral: Reward payouts start 30 days after the referee signs up, and trading fee revenue will accumulate and be paid out on or around the last day of every month for the eligible reward earning time frame.
- Don’t worry - you can track the status of all your activity, including how much you are earning from each of your referrals all in the Rewards Hub!
11. How many referrals can I make and do I get a reward for every referral?
- You can refer as many people as you wish! You will receive a reward for every eligible and qualified referral (to qualify, all requirements must be met from the referee), and each person you refer to will also receive a reward.
- Please note: there is a $600 referral payout limit for the Recruit referral offering.
12. I’m an influencer who wants to refer my audience to Gemini, how does this work?
- Thanks for building the crypto community with Gemini! You can share your referral code link out on social media or other outlets to your audience base, and through that link they can sign up for a Gemini account and start trading. Since all of the referral tiers are associated with the link, no matter if your referrals trade $100 or $100,000, you’ll earn rewards accordingly.
- Keep in mind that there is a $600 referral payout limit for Recruit level referrals, but feel free to reach out and we can discuss a specialized influencer arrangement with you!
13. How can I track the status of my referral(s)?
- Simply visit the Rewards Hub and you’ll be able to locate all of the referrals you’ve sent or received, and the status of each of them towards your referral payout.
- For new Icon and Legend referrals, you’ll be able to see a history of your monthly trading fee revenue rewards and understand which referrals are earning you the most rewards.
14. What is the Rewards Hub?
- The Rewards Hub is a one-stop shop for all your Gemini rewards. It is a dedicated place where you can (i) discover new rewards (ii) see a history of your past rewards (iii) manage and see the status of your active rewards, and (iv) engage with reward offers, and much more!
- Our goal is to provide you with autonomy and transparency when it comes to taking advantage of Gemini offers applicable to you.
15. Taxes
- It's important to remember that any rewards earned through the Gemini referral program may be subject to taxes in your country of residence. When you receive crypto rewards, the value of that reward may be considered taxable income. Bonuses/promotions paid to US persons will count toward the $600 threshold of income earned on the Gemini platform that will require Gemini to issue the Form 1099-MISC.
- It's recommended that you consult with a tax professional to determine the exact tax implications of receiving rewards from our referral program. Additionally, you are responsible for reporting any income earned through our referral program on your tax returns. Failure to do so may result in penalties or fines from your local tax authorities.
16. Special Promotions
Gemini may, from time to time, offer special Referral Rewards Program promotions, whether to individual users or general publically available promotions. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, all Referral Rewards Program promotions shall remain subject to all terms of these terms except as disclosed by Gemini, shall be made in Gemini’s sole discretion and may be revoked or modified at any time. Such promotions shall be effective upon notice applicable users and shall apply only to users that Gemini designates in its sole discretion.
17. Amendment
Gemini may amend the terms of the Gemini Referral Rewards Program at any time in its sole discretion. Changes may include, but are not limited to, the content of the rewards program, the process for earning rewards, the levels for earning rewards, eligibility of any users, eligible jurisdictions, or the timing and distribution process for rewards. A user’s continued participation in the rewards program does not grant any vested rights, and no user may rely on the continued availability of the rewards program. Such changes shall be effective immediately upon posting to Gemini’s website and shall apply to all Gemini users.
